Marine Ichthyology 2019 is in the Books

I just wrapped up teaching my Marine Ichthyology class for 2019. We had an interesting month with beach closures and vessel cancellations, but I think it was overall a success! I had my students sample marine, estuarine, and freshwater locations from Bald Point State Park in Florida (the mouth of the Ochlockonee Bay) to Chandeleur Islands in Louisiana. Their collections culminated in over 150 species of fish and they gained experience seining (more than they probably wanted) riverine to open beach habitats, gill netting, snorkel hand line, and mark-recapture techniques. I am looking forward to teaching the class again next summer!
